When I Started as a Solopreneur, My Sleep Fell Apart — Here’s What I Learned

Starting a business sounds exciting, but no one warns you about the 3 a.m. wake-ups, the burnout, or the mental spirals.

Yep, I suffered from sleepless nights myself when I started out as a solopreneur. I woke up every night at 3 a.m. with a racing heart and circling thoughts, existential fears, and going through client cases…
I mean, I knew how important sleep is. Which created even more anxiety.
There I was, awake in the middle of the night, unable to fall back asleep.

Sleep deprivation took a toll on every aspect of my life:

  • I woke up already drained
  • My creativity was simply non-existent
  • Even simple decisions became overwhelming
  • Brain fog and a sense of hopelessness led to irritability toward my loved ones

I tried to ignore the fact that I had sleep problems thinking, “It will regulate itself…”
Guess what? That didn’t work out so well.

It wasn’t until I used my neuro tools to double down on my sleep and address the root cause of my sleeplessness.

Prioritizing sleep isn’t a luxury it’s a necessity.

This is what helped me:

  • Consistent bedtime and wake-up time
  • Nervous system regulation drills to both elevate my energy and calm me down when needed
  • Morning and evening sunlight gazing to regulate my circadian rhythm and hormones
